How often do we think: all that is needed for happiness is rest. However, in practice, it turns out that the brain usually has difficulty coping with rest. Do we always return from vacation or travel positively charged?
No, not really, sometimes it seems that we need rest from the rest we just had. All the beneficial effects of the holidays can disappear after a month or even after the first day of work, it is just the way it is.
We think we need a vacation to travel and see the world, to clean out our minds, and be ready to get back into our daily routines, with a clear mind, but in reality, traveling can make us feel more tired than anything else.
There is always this lingering feeling that, yes we traveled, we saw places, but we didn’t do anything to relax and do nothing at all.
And this is the pivot point — relaxing by doing nothing at all, we all need these days and more than we even realize.
“No man needs a vacation so much as the man who has just had one.”
