Our emotions don’t happen to us without our involvement, we construct them, we make them real. We construct them by making predictions while using our experiences and memories from previous moments in life.
Any new experience in life that we accumulate, let it be by reading books or watching a movie, or anything that provide new information, offer us an opportunity to construct our minds in new ways, and therefore construct our emotions in new ways, and even master them and be in control.
Never Mastering Emotions
Mastering our emotions is one of the best things we can do for our emotional health. Knowing more than one emotion (anger, frustration, joy, anxiety, boredom, calmness, excitement, e.t.c.) can help us be more specific about what we are feeling and therefore a better understanding of how to deal with them in a more peaceful manner.
Mastering our emotions is a powerful skill and by being able to understand what we are feeling and that we are given a choice to address them, we are giving ourselves a lot more freedom to live a more fulfilled and joyful life.
