One thing I have learned in 2020 — my mind is a place for my thoughts, and if I cannot space them out, there is no way I can move forward for better days. It is easy to get trapped in my thoughts and let them control my day. It is easy to stress out. If I cannot get them in line to understand them and untangle them, they will control me.
For me, the goal of mindful meditation is not to control my thoughts; it is to stop letting them control me. I see meditation as a chance to be fully present with my thoughts and let them through by being present with my emotions and feelings, in sync with my soul, happy with my spirit.
Meditation is not about becoming a different person; it is about training awareness and getting a healthy perspective. In meditation, we learn to observe our thoughts, emotions, and feelings, and eventually cope with whatever is going on.
This year has brought us so many anxious and stressful uncertainties. Our minds go a million miles an hour, trying to process everything. And it feels like there is no way to stop and take a breath. But there is a way, by mindful meditation.
